El Proyecto de Che
In the final project of the year, we studied the country of Cuba. We learned about Che Guevara and his role in the Cuban revolution. We learned about his communist values and how he tried to transform the lives of millions, eventually becoming part of a brutal dictatorship. The goal of the project was to put Che's head on an ironic photo. I placed his head on top of George Washington and had him explain how he wants to help in the American Revolution and people don't want him to. The project turned out well, although I should have spent more time blending his head onto the picture.
Throughout this project I learned about the complicated politics between America and Cuba, as well as the history of the Cuban revolution. I learned about the world issues that are happening. I also learned the complicated system of saying commands in Spanish. Forget about everything you know... commands are different.

Las Ramblas
This project was a major milestone in our work on the past tense. Using the imperfect, preterite and perfect tenses we were tasked with describing a famous character of Mexican decent. We made a Powerpoint presentation to describe this persons life, wrote a minute long speech talking about their lives in the past tense and wrote several questions for audience members to ask us about our characters.
I really enjoyed the project because I was able to not only learn about a Spanish filmmaker, but also grow my Spanish speaking skills and impress my family and friends with my knowledge. I learned when and how to use the past tenses and also how to structure a speech in Spanish. I did my presentation about Alejandro Amenábar, a Spanish filmmaker who has won several awards including an Academy Award for Best Foreign Film. |

La Casa en Mango Street
This project was about hearing yourself speak Spanish while also reading real Spanish stories. We read A House on Mango Street in Spanish and then wrote our own version of the story. This was based off of our lives and after we finished it, we recorded ourselves speaking the Spanish and English version.

Cuento de tu niñez
In this project, we learned the terrifying task of the past tense in Spanish. We were tasked with picking a story from our childhood, and talking about it in the past tense. It is very important to know how to talk in the past tense because most of the time we talk in the past tense. It is important to talk about ourselves in the past tense because we can tell people what our lives were like.
Un Dia en la Vida de Queen Elizabeth
In this project, we wrote a story about a day in the life of a character. We learned about reflexive verbs and how/when to use them. I wrote my story from the perspective of Queen Elizabeth, the Biology Class Hamster. This project is dedicated to her, as she recently passed from an aggressive tumor. R.I.P. Queen Elizabeth, we will miss you.
