Leading Internships for New Knowledge
High School can only teach so much, and at such a crucial time for high school students to think about their future, most do not until the last minute. Animas High School was designed with the goal of ensuring that each student leaves with a basic understanding and preparation for their future.
LINK internships are a fundamental part of that preparation. For the entire month of March, Juniors leave campus to work in the field of study they are planning on entering after high school. Students seek and secure their own internships and, under the guidance of a mentor, work in the "real world". |
From a very young age I learned that I love taking care of people while they are on vacation. The tourism and hospitality industry is one where working with people and working behind the scenes is key.
For my LINK Internship, I worked at the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad. In an effort to learn about all aspects of heritage railroad operation as well as the hospitality aspect, I jumped from department to department. From working in the ticket office to working aboard the historic equipment with passengers I gained experience the entire operation. |
